Paper Village is all about making and creating. We have a shop and workshop that is a focus for creative activity. The shop sells a mixture of unique arts and artist made items and arts and crafts materials as well as gift items and even local music.

There are regular workshops, activities, demonstrations and events and lots of competitions and opportunities for groups and individuals to exhibit their talent. Some of the workshops planned for the coming year are : drawing, t -shirt painting for dads and kids , beat boxing, creative writing, image transfer, stencil cutting, book arts, poetry, kite making, experimental knitting, making board games, altered art, simple printmaking, origami and more !

We want Paper Village to be a place that is shaped and developed by the people who use it. A big part of what we do is about making connections with other organisations, events and activities going on in Bristol and making the shop a really busy and exciting environment.

September 1st update Loads of scrapbooking supplies have arrived - come and see the lovely range of 2 sided cardstock by Crate Paper and Minds Eye including the halloween and christmas ranges. we also have lots of brads and embellishments, little albums etc We are developing the fancy dress bits and pieces section of the shop. We have some nice ostrich feathers, black lace , velcro , elastic, pom poms and lots more on order. A great selection of SIRDAR wools are now in stock including Persia, Tiny Tots, 4 ply, snowflake, big softie etc. We also have some great pattern books Newsletter Out Now The current edition of the newsletter is now available for download - please just go to the section on bookings or workshop and it can be downloaded from there. The newsletter details over 30 courses and events being run by Paper Village and also has lots of information about what we do and can offer Our courses and workshops are delivered by a group of more then 25 self-employed artists and craftspeople. Many of them are qualified teachers or have years of experience of delivering workshops. Others have a particular skills to share. STOP PRESS - Card and Scrapbooking parties We have taken delivery of a Cricut Expressions electronic die cutting machine and people will be able to come in and hire it for an hour at a time. I have ordered several great cartridges of images that can be cut. This means we can start to do card and scrapbooking parties for adults.. We are also able to cut shapes for you . How about having a set of letters cut for a collage that you are making or to go on your childs door. Just come in and choose and buy the papers and then for a small charge we will cut the shapes for you. We have invested in a zutter binding machine and in due course will be getting an embossing machine. Please let us know if there is any equipment that you would like to see us have for hire. We have also started selling our own sketch/artbooks made from interesting bits and pieces with recycled covers made from cornflake boxes etc

Services we offer Making parties We are now offering making parties and the costs start at about £50 for 6 adults for two hours . Cost is dependant on what you decide make and if you want to have a tutor or not. How about coming with a group of friends for a "decorate a bag" party or to decorate mugs, make a box of children's dressing up clothes, bunting, fancy dress costumes, or to learn something new( See bit on card and scrapbooking parties above) Sewing machine for hire You can come in and use the sewing machine for the cost of £5 per hour and support is available. We can also arrange private sewing lessons. Please call in to discuss your needs Badge Making You can come in and use the badge making machine on the premises and it costs £5 for 8 pin badges. If we make them it will cost you £1 each Commissioned services We have lots of highly skilled and creative people on our books who may be able to help you in some way. For example Jane from Follywood balloons can make you a bouquet or design a flower balloon arrangement for your wedding or party You may want handmade bunting or to have some clothes altered or need origami paper flowers for an event . Maybe you would like us to make you a mobile or find someone to design and make a tiara for your wedding. What about commissioning a box of dolls clothes ! Stamp library We are thinking about starting a stamp library for rubber stamps - what do you think .let us know ...also how about an enamelling kiln ???

Card and paper by Craft creations and URSUS in many colours and textures, vinyl coverd cards, velvet covered card and more We stock A1, A3 and A4 card Cake decorating stuff - little bits like candle holders, cake glitter, icing pens, cake cases and soon sparklers and other party bits and pieces ..oh and we have red and white spotty party bags too :)

Funky knitted cactus flies in from Mexico These friendly knitted cacti is on Sale in the shop ! Accessories include a sombrero or a poncho ! Jenny Jones who makes these cacti will be running some knitting and crochet workshops for us in the late summer and autumn. Watch this space if you fancy learning hwo to crochet an egg or knit a sausage or for those more advanced knitters; crochet a cupcake !

More gifts The gifts part of the shop is developing fast. We have both gifts made by artists and craftspeople and also by companies like *Rice. At the moment we have some lovely enamelled candlesticks, large baskets in deep colours, beautiful bird shaped pegs and more.... I have just filled a cabinet with some cupcakes that have been made by Jenny Jones - she is such a star and you can buy a box of 4 crochet cupcakes for just £19.99 - they are great and childproof and washable Christmas Markets We will be holding 5 christmas markets in the shop and stalls will cost £15 - please see the newsletter for details. These are starting to book now so get in quick if you want a stall Lovely bears by Drusilla Teddies - for adults, lego bracelets by Kate Pearce, felt brooches by Sarah Jayne and bags by Sarah Jessie which tell a story made from retro fabrics. *Rice goods will include fabulous enamelled candle sticks, woven baskets, bird shaped pegs, lots of funky decorative melamine and more We are also stocking up on lots and lots of small items for little gifts and for stocking fillers ( Did I just say that - stocking fillers !lol)
